This Week's Assignment: Gripe to Me!

Dear Viewers, Followers, and Blog Creepers:

Your assignment this week is to send me your questions, comments, and gripes! What do you want to know more about? What are you struggling with? Do you think I'm just a big 'ol bag of hot air who should shut down her blog?

I want your feedback!!

Thanks,
Eva McSpartan

  1. I'm graduating in December, but intend on furthering my education, and will probably begin in August. What should I do between January and then? (Oh, and believe me, another unpaid internship will not do! I'm still in the hole from my most recent one!)

Good question! My suggestion would be to do several things:

    1) Figure out any "weaknesses" you'd like to work on! For example, if dealing with people is just not something you're great at, try picking up a part-time job that gets you exposure to working with lots of people on a daily basis. Another great thing to do would be to perfect your resume, curriculum vitae, and any other professional documents you may need in the near future. Many career centers have mock interviews, resume critiques, and other great resources to help you make the most of your job search.

    2) Depending on your major, it may be possible to do research with a professor or work for your department. This would be a great way to get a little extra expereience and make some key connections.

    3) This may be a good opportunity to do something YOU want to do! Travel...take a new/fun class through a local community center...volunteer for a local organization...etc. Sometimes it's nice to take a break from your academic life and just do something you enjoy! It will give you enough time to relax so that when you go back to school in August, you'll be ready to rock!

    Hopefully these suggestions help!
